UPDATE 4/17/2025:

We would like to address and clarify any misunderstandings regarding the money that was found and returned on campus last week. The funds in question belonged to a student and were not associated with the school district or its finances. We appreciate the honesty and integrity shown by those involved in returning the money to its rightful owner.

Dear Cotopaxi Community,

We would like to inform you of an important situation that has recently come to our attention. Today, two of our students demonstrated remarkable integrity by finding and promptly turning in a significant amount of money that had been misplaced on school grounds. These students’ actions exemplify the high standards of honesty and responsibility that we strive to instill in all of our students.

At this time, there is an ongoing investigation regarding the origins of the found money. While we are taking the necessary steps to ensure the situation is handled appropriately, we wanted to communicate with you early to address any potential rumors or misunderstandings. We are committed to transparency and will provide additional information once the investigation has concluded.

We greatly appreciate the actions of the students involved, and we remain focused on maintaining a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for everyone in our school community. Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to our administration.

Thank you for your understanding and support.

Principal Adam Krick
